What’s Your Story?

We all walk around with stories in our heads that we make up around the experiences that we’re having. If we really look, we’ve created stories around all of the good and bad experiences we’ve had in our lives.

We are spiritual beings living in physical bodies. So in essence we get locked into our own “holosuite” of limiting beliefs that we embody when we do that.

Do you remember the old episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation? In a lot of the story lines, the main character would be in a “holosuite” which was an interactive hologram of a time he or she wanted to visit. Funny thing is that they plugged into that reality as if it were real.

I believe the soul is designed to plug into the “holosuite” of its reality and at once be the participant and the observer simultaneously. Otherwise, how would we learn any lessons as we interact with the Universe in which we live?

And the truth is, we’re always co-creating our reality, because the Universe is designed to bring back to us our dominant vibrational feelings through experiences.

Like attracts like. We communicate with the Universe through harmonic frequencies. That is why when you’re having a good day things get better and better. Likewise, when you’re having a bad day, things get worse and worse.

I also believe that we learn our lessons through our experiences and interactions. So, if we were to take a step back and look at our own MGM movie of our lives, the Universe is clearly speaking to us. The question is “What is the Universe trying to tell us?”

Recently I attended David Neagle’s Experience The Reality of Success Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada. For those of you who know me and were there, you know it was a profound experience. I thank you with all my heart for lifting me up in love and light. I think it is safe to say that everyone who was there witnessed, “THE BIG BANG!”

My goal in attending was to break a block I’ve had for years into a million little pieces never to be able to reconstruct it again. David and I did just that… Once the block burst into a million pieces, I simply asked God’s love and light to flow through me.

Now bear with me here, because I’m not particularly religious. But my faith in God is unwavering. I had suffered through a debilitating and life-threatening illness over the course of 20 years. There were times I knew I was knocking on Heaven’s door. In the quiet, it was only God and me… Enough said.

For those of you who weren’t there, I discovered that I’ve been holding myself back from living fully into my own life, because of the story I was telling myself about a long-term debilitating illness I endured. There were parts of “my story” that I was holding onto that I needed to let go of in order to fully embrace my life’s purpose.

In fact, I discovered that I absolutely must let go of that which needs to be released. In order to embrace all the wonderful experiences that are surrounding me in my life right now, I need to make room. And yes, there’s more to the story than making room, including aligning my energetics harmoniously with desired outcomes, but the only way to create new energetics is to create a new story. (My mind movie is part of the new story…)

Today I want you to take a little time to think about your story…

The thing is, the Universe is always talking to us. Sometimes it whispers. Sometimes it screams. One thing is certain. It keeps on talking louder and louder until we eventually stop to listen.

So take some time tonight, this week, or over the weekend to ask yourself, “As I am experiencing both the good and the bad in my life, what is the Universe trying to tell me through both sets of experiences in my here and now?”

Then ask yourself, “Who is the person I need to become in order to live into the life I’m imagining for myself?”

Today’s Take Action Steps:

Sit with your journal for a few minutes. Ask yourself what the Universe is asking you to let go of, to embrace more of, and whom you need to become in order to live into the life you imagine for yourself when you are quietly daydreaming.

• What do I absolutely need to let go of?
• What do I absolutely need to choose to embrace?
• Who do I absolutely need to become in order to live into this life I’ve imagined?

No one person can figure it out for us and deliver it to us on a silver platter. Ultimately, being in the presence of like-minded individuals who are on the same journey is extremely empowering. The key is that manifestation is a harmonic combination of spiritual alignment and taking concrete business action steps (i.e., allowing the Universe to work with and through you) to manifest your dreams from the realm of thought into the realm of physical matter.

Oprah’s story reminded me of how I manifested an internship in Hawaii working with four bottle nosed dolphins from the middle of Tulsa, OK when I was in college at the University of Tulsa studying Psychology.I began using dolphins in every psychology presentation I could. In my Cognitive Psychology class, I compared and contrasted the human brain with the primate brain with the cetacean (dolphin) brain. In my Environmental Psychology class I gave a presentation on the Ocean Environmental Preservation, featuring endangered cetaceans (dolphins and whales).

I read Ocean Realm Magazine at every sitting when at home. I would be the first to get the magazine from the mailbox. I gathered up every National Geographic Magazine I could find with stories of dolphins and whales. I listened to a CD with beautiful Orca songs mixed with music non-stop. Family and friends started giving me dolphin gifts at every turn. A dolphin ring. A dolphin medallion. A dolphin pendant. Dolphin statues or figurines. I talked about dolphins and whales all the time. It was my healthy obsession. I slid dolphin art in the front of my clear page binder. I had books filled with dolphin stories and photographs.

One day out of the clear blue, my advisor asked me to come meet with him. He shared a call from the University of Hawaii at Manoa for a very selective internship doing Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology research with a Marine Mammal program. The program involved working with four bottlenosed dolphins at the Kewalo Basin Marine Mammal Laboratory in Honolulu, Hawaii.

I applied and put everything I had into my application. I waited for months with no acceptance. I was growing impatient.

I cried and got so upset thinking I was not being chosen for this internship, but I knew I needed to be there. I felt that deep burning desire. I wanted to be making our flights, finding the place I would live, pack up my things and move over for the semester, and yet there I was waiting… Waiting… Waiting… And nothing was happening. Why didn’t they just accept me into the program already? I was READY!!!

One day I was swimming laps in our beautiful pool. I could see the light refractions in the water and as I swam back and forth, I got into a really relaxed state. I saw a whale’s eye come closer to me and as I looked in her eye (I’m not sure how I knew she was a female whale, but she was) I could “see” how much love there was for me. For a moment I could see my future and my past and how I was so loved I could barely fathom that much love. The sensation filled me up to overflowing so intensely that I wondered if I could take any more love. That is how intense the love was. At that moment the vision vanished and I stood straight up in the pool and began sobbing. I came inside and told my mom all about it and how I knew that everything was going to be okay.

I released everything in full faith that it was coming to me. I surrendered all…

Very soon thereafter, I received the confirmation that I had been accepted into the program and that I was ONE of TWO INTERNS who had been accepted NATIONWIDE and WORLDWIDE for that particular semester.

So when you want something so bad you can feel it, see, it, sense it, taste it, smell it, and know in your heart of hearts that it is your destiny, it comes to you ONLY when you SURRENDER ALL in FULL FAITH…

A few months ago I moved from San Diego, CA to Tulsa, OK. Since I was totally new in this town, I went out and found myself a “job” — I became part of the management team of a large retail store. Very different experience from anything else I have done career-wise in the past (”Ph.D. in Ocean Geology & Geophysics” and “CEO of Amakua Video, my own video production company in Hawaii”)!

My position commanded to mentor and coach up to 20 associates (age 16 to 55) to improve their performance level for a specific type of sales ‘upsell’ in addition to their primary purchase. At first I had NO clue what to do and how, but I was lucky that - around the same time - I embarked on learning more about “Business” in general and the basic principles of “$ales” in particular through a novel coaching program called “Live Into It…” designed by business coach and CEO Christine Cibula, M.S. (www.LiveIntoIt.com).

So, what happened was that I kept on studying myself and my own “business conduct” and at the same time, I applied those principles as I mentored my associates. To be honest with you, it took me time to identify my “diamond in the rough”….

But eventually I found a “gem” to work with, and like a coach of a star athlete, I was able to continuously & consistently improve the performance levels of that particular associate. I decided the best thing to do is to concentrate on this one “business builder” and allow others to participate as long as they wanted to do it. She doubled, then tripled, then quadrupled her sales!

In the end this particular associate became $ales Person No.1 for the entire REGION (reaching beyond the State of OK) and boosting her overall sales by over 400%.

I was elated to see that what I started to learn and adopt as a coach and “business builder” was duplicatable and that I could teach those new traits to others.

At any given time I’m reading a handful of books, studying from carefully chosen mentors, and doing my own research on the topic of the day that seems to rock my world.

Today I tuned into a teleseminar from one of my online marketing mentors, Howie Schwartz. The guy is BRILLIANT. Plus, he’s a total sweetheart…

As I was on the call, he mentioned someone typed in NAMASTE to him. He got a kick out of it and encouraged everyone listening to look it up for themselves for a more personal experience of the true meaning. He mentioned how he’d been doing Yoga and had changed his eating patterns to green tea and live foods. Funny thing, because I’ve done the same in just the last month…

It is Saturday, Fourth of July weekend, and I’m chilling so I found myself GOOGLING NAMASTE. I found the Wikipedia definition and noticed the hand symbol in the photos. Namaste is a term from India, which made me think a lot about Siddha Yoga, a form of yoga that I’ve done with great success in quieting the mind and getting centered. Whenever I think of what I have learned through Siddha Yoga, I am filled with love and gratitude.

One more thing. My sweetheart, life partner, and fiance Thomas Gorgas, Ph.D., has always told me that I need to be a teacher at the “School For Love“. He keeps asking me what I’m waiting for, and well, I don’t have a great answer. When I watched this video today, I felt it through and through. I needed to share it with you…

I’ve met Jeff Walker in person at the Dan Kennedy & Bill Glazer Info Summit in Atlanta where he presented. He’s a great guy - real… down to earth… unassuming… trustworthy… kind… gracious… humble… we’re talking a guitar playing guy who loves his family and hangs out in sweats at home… he even does product launches in his bathrobe… I’m sharing this to say it is worth your time to check out how he launches a product around an event. This stuff is GOLD…
